2019 was another hectic year for the Tinalley String Quartet, with performances in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.
Festival appearances included Tyalgum Festival, Music in the Hunter with our friends, the Goldner String Quartet and clarinetist David Griffiths as well as two very special performances as part of the Queensland Music Festival, including a night of story telling and music making with the legendary Archie Roach.
The Quartet premiered a new work by acclaimed Australian composer Mary Finsterer and continued engaging with the young minds of tomorrow at the University of Queensland as part of its role as Quartet in Residence.
The Quartet launched its second DECCA Classics release of Mendelssohn’s Opus 12 & 13 Quartets. The album also features a selection of Mendelssohn lieder reimagined by Calvin Bowman for the soprano, Greta Bradman and Tinalley. In October, Tinalley returned to the studio, this time in the spectacular setting of UKARIA in the Adelaide Hills to record the 2nd album of its Mendelssohn Cycle which will feature the Opus 81 4 Pieces, the Opus 80 and Opus 44, No. 1 Quartets.
